So for a little cultural whiplash L. and I went from Oakland to the Antioch Fairgrounds for Billetproof, “The World’s Least Important Car Show” where this, if it’s any kind of “Old School”,
is of the decidedly uncool school that takes Librace unironically as a role model and wasn’t
the droid we were looking for. In the parking lot this came much closer…
and, once inside the gates,
…notwithstanding an early preponderance of what James Gardiner, who did the initial build of my ’45, would call “Ninja Turtle Green”, things got more interesting
…and, if one takes a close look at what’s stuffed under the hood of this ’38 Dodge, faster;
There was also a lot of Chevy’s “Hugger Orange”, much like Lincoln’s “Matador Red” with which my VW cabriolet was painted after the first time I wrecked it back in ’61, and this Baja Beast, street legal.
A rare 1960 Chevrolet sedan delivery;
Fields of Fords;
…a bitchen Lincoln, other interesting specimens
and forties Fords in greens, another curious choice of hue;
the perennial five window deuce [above and below];
More elemental [and looking like the most fun to drive];
or weird
Fords, Fords…grille-volution; 1938, 1937…
and as temps climbed the scene under the trees became the place to be…
Extremists, and less so…to be continued…
M
clearly you were in hog heaven (without the harley’s of course!)
Well a few bikers were rumbling around…but it was, as you say…
Sheer delight…
Saw a Hudson on the street yesterday…always good for a neck snap!
I like P1020669, metallic red and white in the tall grass with white sidewalls and skirts. Can’t make out the make.
The splendor in the grass is most likely a ca. ’50 Mercury…or it could be a Lincoln…something very like that, anyway.
unfortunately after the rare 1960 chevy I don’t see anything (doesn’t download) it’s still
SO Californian
ooops…sorry B.; maybe try try again?
Nicely documented; feel like I was there; the heat!
The weird Ford for sale by the restrooms has a Fury Road feel to it, eh?
I sent the rare
1960 Ford delivery sedan to Boyd in a smaller size….hopefully he’ll get it.
So many nice cars. I’ve been to the Good Guys at Pleasanton several times and I think these are a completely different set of almost identical cars. MoreRat Rods, good on it for that. Thanks. (I really liked the old school three window deuce a la lakester.)
Oh yes, this is the one nephew Ian needs to see!
I swear I saw the mentioned matador red VW in Carmel last week!!
