Monthly Archives: April 2021

More of the same, sort of…

After a summery impossibly dry [for April] week on de ‘sert

on their last day here Linny and the Inkies ventured

onto the hallucinatory playa, returning somewhat diminished from the adventure.

[The upper well remained less than fulfilling throughout]

Friday they set off on New Adventures,

leaving me alone

to retrace their footsteps in the powdery dust

which, next day, was on the move

as was all the scrap lumber, making ready [it was hoped]

for the return of the backhoe to reroute and restore the waters…

Sunday was chill and grey with a dusting of snow on the Granites and a trace on the Fox

as I abbreviated my walk to explain to James the altered path of the ditch for the pipe, a path which ultimately shorted the inverter when it intersected the wires from the solar panels. It made for a long and often juiceless day accompanied by several tire changes but in the end all

was done and said and everyone down the road.  A long-awaited bunch of stuff, the persistently

flat tire hopefully awaiting me – repaired and aired – in the back of a pickup in Gerlach Monday

morning and dicey weather over Donner on tires I don’t entirely trust…tired tires.

Wishing meself luck, tired myself, we’ll see.
