So it turned out that Monday

wasn’t the last look around after all as the next day L. was still laid low with what maybe was curly kale poisoning, utterly unable to lift a finger, barely eating and barely moving from couch

or bed all day, so with all I could do without her done I went back up to Alice Coltrane’s last studio album “Translinear Light”, to which I’ve listened almost every afternoon all summer in

mine. Wednesday, the day we’d originally planned to be in Green River, arrived with L. not even marginally better so after a consultation with Kaiser’s ‘advice nurse’ I went down the

meadow but at the end of the day,

on the advice of our California doctor who felt “someone should see you now”,

we ended up in the

for some pain relief and enough imaging to decide she “needed to be admitted” but more than that, given certain anomalies, transferred to UC Memorial Central in Colorado Springs that night which entailed several hours’ wait for the ambulance which took her up there after midnight while I went home to the dogs, a shower, some scraps of food and bed around two a.m…

in the morning it was the first of the week’s several 110 mile commutes

to Memorial Central, a great big hospital with a huge dark [and full] parking garage which was eventually navigated to find Linda high up, hooked up, monitored, much diminished

and with her affliction still very much a mystery.

I retraced the miles home just before darkness to worried dogs and

after a couple of concerned and exhausting phone calls slept exhausted and late, stumbled

around the grounds,

kept drawing myself to distraction

and Saturday was more of the same, more information but still no firm diagnosis,

much uncertainty as to where what when….well…well anyway, unknown.

I was up ep early Sunday and soon away…

gas at the same Colorado City pumps, a pause for groceries in Pueblo, then the more navigable

weekend parking garage and up to the seventh floor under the helipad for awhile until

home to dogs, dinner, unknown unknowns…

To be continued…and [somewhat] resolved.
