So then along came Monday, up to Pueblo again
with a low, irreparable tire
and where Linda, although feeling only slightly better, found she’d lost over ten pounds over the weekend. We returned by way of Safeway, got slightly less great [but still good] enchiladas from Sonora’s across the street and returned, exhausted, to make plans for our eventual escapes….
With a more solid time frame things quickly fell into place with Luz and Bryan; the former will now fly in from Vancouver Wednesday to help Linda finish packing and me to load the truck in time to meet the latter in Springs Friday and start west where we’ll all, Inshallah, reconnect in Benicia in time for takeout from Nani’s and some Sunday afternoon ice cream before Luz flies
home. Well we”ll see…meanwhile Tuesday saw a little random packing on my part and a last afternoon in the studio with one very weird phone call from my very old friend Bob B. down
in New Mexico [or is it America?] before Wednesday morning’s return
to Kaiser North where Linda’s one last lab test took over an hour to implement but despite
the delay I nonetheless insisted on a brief detour to meet Danny Lamberson at Colorado Rod and Custom to talk a bit about resuscitating Trigger before heading back to the Huerfano,
beat as usual, for a late late lunch, a little research into 1950 Chevrolet replacement parts
and a last last trip up to clear up the studio, wash brushes, close paintpots etc…
Dinner was a medicinal chicken soup, awaiting Luz as the rains started…
Thursday the wet mostly held off, he and I rolled up the summer drawings, then he and Linda gradually sorted out the clothes to send west in between news that P&Z hadn’t rewarded the GroAway team its many variances. Uh-oh, assholes…
Luz made Meat, we sat up a bit after his mom was abed talking about Trigger
and then all to sleep, however fitfully. Big days ahead, and big uncertainties…
