whose soaked earth [though it didn’t much look that way] made, as we’d been warned,
for muddy meanderings on our first mostly cloudy day.
The next one brought some sun, warmed the house,
charged the batteries and
allowed breakfast on the porch but
by afternoon, the ground too greasy,
we stayed to the the road as far as the boundary ditch
and back.
StuporBowl morning was chill enough to render the greasy sufficiently tacky
for walking though sunshine
made later off road wanderings iffy…not that we didn’t find the chairs to sit, sorely in my case,
and so unto another evening.
This was followed by [as usual] another morning, cast over brightly,
and, late that day, a walk to Parker Reservoir, disturbing two ducks [not shown], as
the overcast,
persisting into Tuesday,
grew ever darker
with an Ominousness coming up from the southwest which, along with
approaching burros and discouraging weather reports convinced us to cut short our stay
by a day, making for a shortish visit…but there it was.
Chilly week … warm pictures.
The limitless has a boundary ditch? Is anyone next door?
We are contiguous with Dave Rumsey’s Parker Ranch and always have been…our houses are about 2/3 of a mile apart.
looks like a pleasantly contemplative trip, despite it being short.
Wild burros! And beautiful dark landscapes. Welcome back to the Bay.
Lots of delicious deep winter shadows cast by the fleeting sun; glad you got out and over Donner before I-80 turned into a mess!
