The afterwhich…

So, um…library takedown, trip to Oakland, massage, putting away library paintings, a first

dinner out down the street at Gaby’s, dinners out [or at least cooked] in the yard

and those daily morning walks

until Saturday, hey; pier burning!  Carboats fled and word has it that of course the price

of gas [Valero uses the pier] will go, um, up.  Of course…particularly since the whole thing will be cordoned off and out of commission for endless “investigations” as we “pay at the pump”.

Pain at the pump, como lo usual, but at least it all blew in the other direction and Sunday was

brightly sunny for the next fiesta; familial birthday day time with the Mystery Dink, the

octogenarian*, another taco bar [not shown, also including enchiladas], my very fetching

grandniece Gabriella and her dad, holding Bryan L. Moore at arm’s length [also seen in Kirk’s

commemorative slideshow with the late Lefty McDermitt] and, surprise [!], batteries,

though not suitable for the noir car Nick rented, were heavily subsidized, everyone survived not only cava and enchiladas but passion fruit raspberry tarts and hopefully a good time was had

by all as the next day the weather turned extremely windy and cold. Dark initially though then,

though still windy and cold, not so dark.

Too windy for an old guy to be out on a bike so walked about a bit in sparkling light

finding things in the alley…

always a good default, things in the alley.

Your belated 80th BD Party was a huge success and we were all honored to be there! Just sorry Alex and the Bryans couldn’t attend in person; but they sent best wishes, Dinky toy and a zoom call.
As your amazingly creative life goes on, so do your photos, drawings and paintings (and we follow all that vicariously via this blog). Thanks, Bro’!!

It was a great day thanks to all who were there or sent their wishes…and we still have black beans left!

Loved the big group photo. Marvelous.

The small house with the light green wall that abruptly shifts to red set me thinking: That paint job either ended a marriage, or preserved the same. Successful either way as the line of demarcation is so clear and neat.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY just a bit late.
