although prior to that the roofing guys were back to do a second coat just before the sky
shut down and wept the rest of the week. After that neither lunar ick lips nor eclipse
could be visible…not under utterly overcast days and nights on end, no, though the City
of Benicia did begin wiring up the Tree at the bottom of First* for First Friday** while
the roofers made good on their promise to send detailers from Sacramento to clean the overspray [or whatever it was] off our vehicles, plus I got “Reddish Desert” away to Trixie in
Santa Fe and also struck up a conversation with John from Baypoint, who’s been fishing the
end of West F since we’ve been back, resulting in the gift of a striped bass he caught while I was out on the bike. A productive day, a joy to meet him and the Striper was luscious grilled as well
as in luncheon quesadillas with Guacamole Salsa on the pad as roofers [not shown] ranged about above, spraying on the final coat.
The fog took off for the weekend which, given the evidence, seemed quite clear and Sunday
was more of the same after a delightful morning visit from OMCA orchestrated by our old friend Phil Linhares [not shown].
* We hope, given the current Unhinged Unrest as seen on TV, that First Friday’s tree-lighting will not tempt some maniac to plow through the holiday hordes…nor will some outlaw gang sweep in to smash and grab inventory from our struggling downtown merchants.
**First Fridays being the first Friday each month, December’s corresponds to Christmas open houses for the businesses up and down the street, bands playing, hundreds of people bundled up and wandering down and back…very festive. “Be a shame to blow it up”
like the lone sailboat
OK, Mike, I give up. Explain the top picture.
Merely the mural on the side of American Foam Experts’ box truck…
