Happy Fourth of July!

We’ve been in dry dry southern Colorado a little over a week now, not much going on, but

clear dry skies and hot.

Aside from some occasional smoke, a few distant neighborly sightings and as ever the dogs,

quite quiet.   The altitude, without the pollination complications of lush grasses, is having less

of an effect than last summer and soon we were making it to the top of Fossil Hill

as well as tentative forays upstairs to the studio…plenty of time ahead for all that.

Some smoke [maybe dust?],

some considerable clarity,

some dogs

and a moon coming [full on the Fourth, they say].

I wanted to be timely with this as Asshole celebrates the continuing desecration of indigenous sacred lands by showing off his fatass insulting self in the Black Hills with all the self-aggrandizing pomp, bullshit, fireworks and flyovers by the Air Force of the Oppressors* he can muster…yeah sure, the Fourth [or Third?] of July is a big deal for colonizers and racists, but who

else really thinks it deserves to be so celebrated in a pandemic year? Not my president, if I had one, not under my flag [it looks real cute wrapped around those open-carry militia dudes, though, don’t it?], not my country.  “Happy Fourth of July, and allow us rub your noses in it…” Again.

RUB BACK!   When ya got nothin’ [for SO long] ya got nothin’ to lose…

As seems to be a theme of Covid summer…

*same link as the previous one, with thanks to C. H. Sandoval for passing it on; too timely to ignore!

Those top fotos are so weird! The spam-colored sawed-off tree trunk face, and in the second one tree limbs ilke lovers in bed. And later the black dog looking like a lantern. Your state of mind in this surreal 4th.

Arrrrgh, painful to have all the wonderful, strange photos with shadows and amazing dead trees yield to dear leader at Mt. Rushmore. Hope things are still lovely out there in Colorado.
