We cross the great water, which is mostly about architecture and atmosphere [and San Francisco, city of ridiculous rents and laser-shaven shiny baldheads],
All for dentistry and then the bus ride home over bridges…returning via Vallejo to be miraculously visited in turn by a day of small rain, Thursday September 30th…[not shown]
The supermoon, anti-climatic otherwise, brought super high tides…
…and at week’s end yet another venture into the crammed and crowded City, this time by car to park in a garage since though the Event provided Valet the last time we availed ourselves of such a service in North Beach it cost Linda her clutch…
Back to busy Benicia for a quiet Sunday, quiet Monday, uneventful week…
Took the ’45 to Chuck and cycled home for what may be the last time as, building sold, he’s giving up what had been a most convenient business for my nearly endless rotation of automotive needs…
Later Vallejo, where I went by Matt Seret’s inquiring after a tailgate and found this instead;
Still looking for that tailgate; 1942-46 Chevrolet…
Down H our flag-flying tar-sands-loving neighbors think no one notices when they water their lawn all night despite gutters running all the way to G Street come morning…and Canadian crude is to jobs as little blonde plastic Arabs are to Christmas on that bright green lawn of theirs every December. Other neighbors, believing that it hasn’t really rained in years, stay dry and we walk every morning…
…when not laying waste our days watching the live feed from Hershey as Hagerty Insurance attempts to build a ’46 ford in four days from swapmeet-sourced parts…
Mas anon…

what’s stephan shore’s uncommon places about, from the 60’s?
“Uncommon Places” is actually from a series of trips Shore made around the U.S. in the 70’s; this third edition has many more pictures than either of the original two. All photos, pretty generic scenes that become somehow iconic. Worth looking at, for sure.
Where is the flag lover’s green lawn? Your public is clammering for a picture.
Half a block west of here…I’ll see what I can do.
