yeah so into the greenness awhile ago, daily trips from the getgo to Vallejo for
errands unto afternoon when
Luz and Izel pulled in for a week’s stay, Friday back for another round before
the salt-assaultive lunch special at Lucca with son Bryan, out here helping his mom before flying back to Texas, as well as Luz, Izel and Linda followed by Saturday’s massive barbecue/reunion
for many of the old SF crews which did go on…as did copious leftovers well into the week.
Monday’s only distraction was dropping the ’45 at Alex’s and shopping for foods
but Tuesday was yet another Vallejo carwash and lengthy wait at Kaiser for X-rays of the Feet.
Wednesday it was just the continuing
attempts to sufficiently charge Luz’ otherwise fine little Chevy rental Bolt while Thursday
it was Vallejo again to finally upgrade the Taco’s stereo and for twenty-three bucks I was
easily Lyfted home for lunch and a bike ride but at four, the Taco ready, Lyft wanted $113.00
for the return and no pick up until the place had closed…Luz was meanwhile enjoying rush hour to SFO and back collecting Christine for a latish dinner with us and the next day they were off first thing to experience firsthand why “friends don’t let friends fly Frontier” on their way to her
parents’ in SoCal. All in all it was a week of starts, stops, sorefooted dogwalkings, unexpected
rains and losses, oh losses…some anticipated, some not. Paths leading away, it seemed,
as darkness fell severally among us, most devastatingly on Saint Patrick’s Day when
a dear longtime friend, generous and wise as well as he who had, fifty seven years ago
this very spring, introduced me to, among much else [Shipibo?], the country up along the
Oregon/Nevada border which has so obsessed me ever after, passed away, Saint Patrick’s Day,
and although not entirely unexpectedly a loss, a profound loss to all of us nonetheless.
March.
Well Mike, thanks for the ‘tour d’´horizon’, family comings and goings and your dear ‘shipibo’ friends departure. Just saw a show at the Quai Branly of among other things the ceramics that you’ve got a fine few examples of.
Itaka and I taking the occasion to wish you a Happy Birthday wherever, with whom ever and however you’re going to celebrate in 2024!
Much love, E + I
Thank you, thank…and the celebration was calm and quiet…unlike the days ahead. Well we’ll see…
Wow! so green and clear. Happy Easter (or, Spring, if you prefer), Steve
I’ll happily take either or both, Steve…and thanks!
