The return of the light remained occluded for days on end which [3pm Monday, below],
compounded by King Tides,
made for quite the wetly wintry aspect although on
Wednesday we got a break, all the better for the kids who’d spent the day driving up the coast
from Cayucos, bringing oysters from Monterey*. The novelty of seeing our shadows did not,
however, last long, as after a most pleasant evening with the three of them plus Bryan to help
consume the aforementioned mollusks along with goose soup as well as the remnant pie and
cookies Thursday showed up as wet and dark as ever with barely time to walk the pups
before they were off in the rain towards Eugene, Oregon.
Meanwhile in Benicia the rest of the week washed wetly
downstream towards another 21st century year…
Come New Year’s Eve Chicha and company were safely ensconced in Vancouver and Bryan
was in Barstow, heading back to eventual Texas, while thanks to champagne, Linda Beaumont‘s
panforte** and vin santo we didn’t quite make it to 2023 before taking to our bed
but nonetheless hope the coming year will encompass a bit less weirdness, fewer broken bones…and all best things for everyone. Except maybe the Moron of Mar a-Lago.
*The oysters from Monterey were actually from Long Island, but sweet and fresh just the same.
**Whose website inexplicably fails to mention that deadly delicacy.
Love these moody photos, Michael. Happy New Year to you, and hoping for a sighting in CA this year!
Happy New Year to you and John aand hope we see you here too!
Happy New Year
Are Californian resivoirs filling up?
Filled to overflowing…and then some.
Washed away quite literally in my former home town Capitola! Your “kids” just made it up the Big Sur coast as the highway is now closed. Loved the horizontal striped image with hovering space capsule….
Happy New Year!
yes, they caught the only day of sun, having spent the previous one in the rain on the Carrizo Plains..
