The Sheep Head smokiness

was barely visible and our air

was, despite the map, looking pretty good out here…at least for most of the rest of the week.

Looking north however

there was a hint of something and by the time the kids pulled in from BC

on the third the Aspen Acres conflagration

had become impossible to ignore, not to mention worry about…

Bad air, low vis…and an early

beer can chicken followed by – because, Libre, where everything has to happen all at once – a visit to Leon and Ariel’s for a tour of greenhouses, poultry and homemade ice cream…

Next day L. and I had our first appointments in Gardner with Desireé from where the fire’s

inroads into steep roadless areas the other side of Greenhorn were ominously evident.

Air quality and visibility remained, um, compromised

unto Tuesday, by which time

the inroads had bifurcated.

Not good. [We’re the blue dot]

To be continued…

Michael, thanks so much for the photographic documentation. I’m glad that there’s no immediate danger to you, but these are scary times.
