After that, and all those

visitations there was another day of packing and loading,

then a last trip around the block[s] with Sumi and then Aggie

and then

away again for

a far easier trip over the hill.  Sierra Valley was much the same although colder but – surprise! –

no gas at Hallelujah Junction though it was available just beyond Doyle* so subsequently into

Nevada, land of broken dreams, broken singlewides, broken suspension parts,

and broken cars

on Fish Springs Road. This was followed by a left onto CR 33**,

over Sand Pass***, north along the Smoke Creek Desert,

over the Smoke Creek Bridge and past Burro Mountain on the way

to Wall to wearily

settle in before dinner at Parker to meet Andrea Gatopoulos and his

cinematographer Antonio who are filming a feature on Dave in which I will briefly feature.

Friday we went out to scout locations, Andrea settling of course on the playa

on which Dave and I were duly filmed walking back

and forth

as well as reminiscing on camera about our 1978 walk out of the Owyhee while leaning

against the fender of his Jeep…all that was happily wrapped

up by three so I was home in time to witness the sunset, only sun of a flat grey day,

after which Linda sent me a little doggie-style porn just to remember them by.

Saturday midday the whole crew were over here shooting, returning in the afternoon to reprise

some audio about the walkout and finish things up with Dave and me on the porch talking

about, mainly, Nova Scotia, where they’ll all be headed

Monday after stopping over in SF Sunday, for the final pieces of the Puzzle.

The process here was quite easy and pleasurable…the results promise to be interesting.

*Talk about broken dreams, eh?

**The formerly straightforward CR 33 has been supplanted with a confusing number of suburban-sounding names, too many to list here.

***All the buildings depicted in that Sand Pass link no longer exist, but the map does list a few of the various Confusing Designations that have supplanted CR33.
