As the Holidays of 2020 recede into the distance will someone please imPEACH dat piece of tchit** [and try him and his enablers for treason] NOW? Unfortunately, not likely;
that woulda worked under the ‘old’ laws [and Constitution] but we’re under new rules and the side making them only abides by them as long as they damage the other. Side, whatever
…so, under skies best characterized as “waiting for rain” while lurching toward an alleged
inauguration the Trumpster Shitshow Roadshow rolls on, traumatizing all media in its path. Hard to believe, impossible to countenance but that’s America fer ya in the 21st century.
The light’s still nice though…
We remained waiting for rain as Monday’s anticipated Category 2 storm delivered not much
beyond Tuesday morning’s fog and geese which led into a late starting not particularly
productive day as once the fog burned off the weather was utterly boring
though the spectacle of Kimberly Guilfoyle warming up a peachy crowd in Georgia to welcome her boyfriend, the “Great Patriot” Donnie ll, livened things up by being deeply frightening.
It did make me wonder whether all Trump women are required to sleep with a trapezoid in their mouths to maintain that signature shape…but the predictably strident tone and the “Keep the White House” rant were typical of what I can only hope is the shitshow roadshow in its death throes, though with Scotland refusing entry to his golfing goofball dad and even Florida expressing doubts I guess they’re all kind of desperate. As well they should be.
But desperate or not they got their wish; it may be death throes but the White Lies Matter million yahoos march, mobbing the Capitol wrapped in Trump, American and Confederate flags chanting “Trump Won” and “No More Bullshit” created what the TeeVee called a “delicate situation for law enforcement” as the million yahoos are of course overwhelmingly white. Had they been black the cops would have known exactly what to do…but black people tend to be better behaved than Trump’s legions even without the benefit, as seen last summer, of a massively Proactive Police/National Guard Presence in DC. Rather unlike today where the few obsequious bro-cops in attendance courteously opened barricades for the throng and invited them in.
Every time I see those faggotty silken TrumPence flags I just want to vomit…same for all the other flags these raving dipshits wave around…but there they are, exercising their first Amendment Rights, god bless ’em, and getting martyred in the process. Not while sitting in their apartments in clear view of “peace” officers, however, but a boogaloo martyr’s a better martyr, right?
Outside, in the world, the skies were clear and the views pristine as ever; whatever tomorrow
brings twenty-five years ago today we lured way more people than we anticipated
two hours off the Nevada Interstate
for a Wedding*** fondly remembered, and just in time as many who were there are now gone. This year we celebrated in the library with passionfruit tarts from One House and the last of the Christmas lights…banishing the shitshow roadshow from our minds for at least a little bit as we revisited and recollected that fortuitous day.
*Since upstaged by the twit’s many inciteful communications with his adoring followers throughout the sixth. Talk about impeachable! I mean, who even remembers the prez and his lawyer’s threatening a governor to ‘find’ him 11,000 votes?
**ref. “Scarface”, Brian de Palma, 1983. The character Tony, after promising a rival drug dealer he wouldn’t hurt him, turns to his accomplice Manolo and says “Ay Manny, tchoot dis piece of tchit”. One could hope for a Floridian Trump denoument similar to the one at the end of the movie [actually filmed in Santa Barbara] but as the saying goes, “You’re no Tony Montana, Mr. President”. Something more humiliating than a bloodbath would be appropriate at this stage and anyway Florida apparently doesn’t want him, either. From today’s evidence lots of people do and they can have him; he can freaking have THEM too.
***Which could, weather depending, have been life-threatening but wasn’t. We were lucky all around, and remain so.
Here’s my own takeaway from that harrowing day: Hopefully now that he will clearly be gone we will have learned a few things about what we must never do again, and learned how to recognize a personality type that we must never again allow into that office. Perhaps many of us have learned some hard lessons. My final take, having listened to the objections, is that the constitution leaves each state to manage its own voting, and that once the state has certified its votes they must stand. Remedies to problems within any state must be solved within that state, by actions taken within the state, and taken prior to any federal election. Once a state has certified its election that must hold. A federal election is an inappropriate venue for bringing a motion against the internal affairs of an individual state.
I wish I shared your optimism but even if the turd is flushed out of the White House I don’t think there will ever be any way to shut the Trump up…and just remember nearly half of our fellow Americans think he and what he stands for are just great.
There may have been hard lessons learned somewhere but I don’t think the Confederacy is budging an inch, nor will they ever.
And more importantly: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! a balm to see the wedding photo, and as usual all of your photos. I was particularly blown away by the second one, which at least just to me has a metaphoric punch totally relevant to recent events.
The second photo took my breath away!
Fabulous
agree about that 2nd photo. fantastic.
I doubt Trumpism is going away anytime soon. 75m is just too many. Some 77% Goppers approve of Donnie and something like 83% don’t want to see him removed from office….mebbe civil war? the enemies of the US must be dancing up a storm watching the disintegration. However, on a more optimistic note, this may be the most awful self-inflicted wound we have seen on the body politic in our lifetimes, but history is full of startling human disasters; the US may well muddle out of it….in some recognizable form. Just think, in most banana republics where this sort of thing happens, any vestige of democracy crumbles. The US is still there. There is hope.
I liked that second photo too….now that I am back doing some collages, my mind is in that place.
We are rotten to the core. Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that so many people believe something that is totally fraudulent, untrue, proven to be untrue. But there is a good propaganda mill in our midst and people have used it….plus, critical thinking skills are not a requirement at 80%+ of the schools in our country. Happy wedding anniversary and I loved that photo too.
Really envious of Kathy’s detached comments….somehow can’t manage that!
