Lefty attacked his bugs so assiduously Monday that I finally surrendered, rolling out in the dark
to finish up the week with a last look around, water still flowing,
and loaded out with fog on de sert,
also in town, eight a.m., so down the road.
Rush hour in Sparks; the gas station jammed, the interstate uninteresting, an overdose of NPR all the way to Benicia where, our usual source for such being closed, white people’s burritos from across the street were as bland and doughy as the Plaza’s in Walsenburg…filling but not fulfilling. Dampness dispersed sufficiently to allow a brief afternoon underhood intervention…
Tuesday morning, fog on the straits, a T-Bird on the way to Safeway
and a ride to the water, replete with uprooted cattails.
Wednesday, big day; Phil Joy brings his forklift and Scott…just lifts.
Alfredo, main man from Reliable Powdercoating, was soon gone to San Leandro. Next stop March 4, Brian Gross Fine Art, SF, in living color…
…and so the straits, wintry afternoon.
FYI the revolution will STILL not be televised, notwithstanding Wednesday’s prelude to further repressions as cleverly provoked by Steve Bannon’s Fags for Fascism.
The tilting and eventual ignition of a strategically placed lighting generator was particularly obvious…as was the mysteriously infinite amount of fuel available for the photogenic fire.
well, stayed tuned.

And let’s not all get too hysterical, right?
I’ve taken a two day break from the television, the NYT and the iPad are depressing enough..
Love fog pictures, anywhere it happens.
Too bad… seems you just left the antidote for the Democratic Devolution out there in the desert: Beautiful winter morning pictures and road shots. I’ll keep them in my mind and try to ignore what’s on the boob tube.
Deconstruct it if you can’t ignore it, or follow Steve’s advice http://srstern.com/2017/time-to-volunteer/
…but that’ll be a long haul.
I’m always amazed by the beauty of your perfectly composed landscapes, the photographs bringing the same senstivity that we have for decades treasured in your paintings. And you remind those of us who bring words to art that images trump (forgive me) text everytime in the effort to describe and interpret. You are becoming my favorite fine art photographer. Good job!
I totally agree with you “Karl Paulstrom”! 🙂
I love to sink into each frame. Wouldn’t they be wonderful as a narrated film?
never quite figured out the water flow dilemma
We think it’s diminishing pressure in the aquifer after years of drought not to mention the holes we punched into it twenty years ago…and, more recently, clogged perforations in the wells exacerbated by debris from the video exploration last October….
