Dining out in Benissha, land of humorous parkers…

A nice calm week, beginning in the aftermath of Sunday’s “Run for Education” [they’re always running around for something around here].

The calm;

The aftermath;

…and a “Donk”, so called, I’m told [though not by wikipedia, so maybe only in V-town], because the wheels reference a Donkey Cart, evidencing Humor in Parking;

Later, it having been a long day of teaching for some, sanding, priming and blending for others, we went down to the Union for an early dinner and were entertained by an ill-dressed but loudmouthed Tea Party trio spouting conspiracy theories and birther pronouncements far to the east of even their most idiotic internetters…

…as well as crowing on [and on] about how one of their number had rented an oceanfront condo in Oaxaca and insisted on keeping the AC well under 62 degrees!  Outrageous!

This at first struck me as delusional given that Oaxaca’s high in the Sierra and been the historic gateway for experiencing myriad manifestations of vegetal psychedelia from mushrooms to mezcal for close to a century until I realized the reference must be to Oaxaca The State, which has, ah yes, plenty of beaches including possibly the world’s most punishing beachbreak, Puerto Escondido.  Whichever it was, good for us they left soon after, trailing their right wingnuttiness out into the twilight and leaving Gaby’s back room in peace…

The next night’s dinner and several more were peaceably had at home on the pad…

Later in the week saw a rare trip across the Great Waters as far south as the Menlo-Atherton border visiting old friends, their artworks and lunch, not necessarily entirely in that order nor all at once…
