Monday the ‘pies raucously returned to the upper pond well in fine feathery form…
[I keep hoping to catch a train coming around Phil Siding at dusk but the one time it did failed to focus…]
ah, well, perhaps another time…that WAS another time; Monday and Tuesday the light being much different;
By the end of Tuesday, our owl population had increased to five…
never to be seen again. The other friends remained more amenable
…until the weather turned again; cooling, dribbling more rain than predicted
…then blowing through clear and bright;
…bringing snakes at breakfast…
Anyway, clear air, temps like June used to be…nice enough for a bit more.

Wow! Blue green tails and wing edges on … magpies? I thought they were strictly black & white! Clearly I’ve not been paying attention! https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Black-billed_Magpie/id
Black, white…and eerily iridescent; as much fun as a barrel of…magpies!
wow, nice owls!!
Nice variety of weather and your avian photos are exemplary! But my favorite is the last landscape shot with amazing light/shadows on the far mountains, gorgeous!
yes, I love that final landscape too- so evocative of the peace and tranquility of your little pair-a-dice.
Also I was amazed at the colour on the magpies. I never knew they were so gorgeous! Owls another fav too. nicely done.
Five owls, I’m jealous. We only have two and we never see them, just hear them talking back and forth.
