After Linda’s excellent duck and the worst cookies ever* Bryan headed back to Texas after
Thanksgiving with his mom before which there was Wednesday,
Thursday too
and later even Friday; a chill wintry haze upon the Straits though neither for lunch nor
afternoon…at least not so very much.
Lunches outside continued, and Saturday a dinner with friends in which an unaccustomed amount of sparkling wine was consumed, resulting in Subdued Sunday
…but lunch just the same; end of November still warm enough to be out. For the moment,
as was this ’37 Chev 5-window that afternoon down on West E.
So it goes, or went…
*In all sincerity Linda went seeking desserts worthy of her duck but not only is One House closed Monday and Tuesday but the former Farm and Flour, having weathered several takeovers and makeovers, is experiencing an Exodus of Bakers seemingly equal to Twitter-after-Elon so, the selection of delicacies there being sadly diminished, she crossed the street and brought home what passes for shortbread and maybe chocolate cookies from Dianna’s which I can say without reservation were Unbelievably Bad, alas.
I like the concept of “unbelievably bad” The phrase itself somehow resists repetition.
They really were, too. I mean, cookies; not supposed to be rocket science for a “bakery”, right?
Clicking through the link, it doesn’t look like Bryan will be staying in Texas for long.
They’re deploying to Jordan in March [I think] and he’s really looking forward to seeing Linda’s painting in the US Embassy there…among other things.
