The twenty-four degree mornings warmed quickly
to breakfast** investigations
and something never seen – miles of dust from a train rounding Phil Siding, southbound .
After a tentative afternoon studio visit and
a walk to the chairs disaster struck as, early Saturday morning, night of No Moon,
I intersected an immovable object on my way to the kitchen, bashed a knee and came down squarely on my sternum. The object in question was a heavy upholstered chair and the damages forced, after a most painful night, confinement to quarters…not so bad unless one
had to sit down, stand up, walk or move. After a frustrating day of such excruciations I
made a tentative perambulation of the ponds accompanied by the *Crazy Ass Dogs
who insisted on water sports, overly exuberant Leaping and other shenanigans.
It nonetheless felt good to get out…
Low light, all right…taking things painfully easy of necessity
and so on to the Difficulty of Bathing in water heated, sans water heater, on and carried from
the stove. Carefully. The placebo effect of Aleve fifteen years past its prime remained
so minimal that I truncated an experimental morning walk and pretty much spent all Sunday in,
computer, watercolors and sewing being about as much discomfort as a person could
tolerate; maybe the six-years’ expired Ibuprofen that turned up will prove more effective.
Meanwhile another day wound down with what may be the end
of all those chill brilliant sunny ones…
