Ours, unlike Elon’s, remain modest, marginally sufficient for delayed Friday departure
which took almost four hours to get out of Benicia
only to stop in Vacaville,
cross the Valley to pause
at Heather Glen for the last of the Chuu Chee Salmon as the dogs alarmingly chased cars,
then over the hill – which looked like Weather but wasn’t –
and though the traffic in to Reno from USA Parkway was outrageous after the intersection
things opened up and after Wadsworth it was pretty deserted up through
Nixon, on and off the Rez along
ditto for the Selenites,
the Granites,
the Black Rock
only to end with an annoyingly inconstant driver in sun and dust all down the county road
to Wall where
Seth and Sonny showed up to help unload in their recently resuscitated vintage International.
Next day, bright and breezy, the knee was uncooperative so spent it mainly around
home and studio, February’s monochromatic palette in evidence
unto evening, first day…
the second one being windier still but
with one of those good calls from Vancouver, catching up.
beneath memories of Earlier Dogs…left, Lefty…Speckle on Lefty…
and other manifestations on an interior winter Sunday, Superbowl Sunday so they said.

wonderful heart-opening mind-clearing winter desert scenes
…and more to come!
