A psychopath and a wacko ideologue take over a country under the flimsy cover of a deranged + duped former “Reality” TV “Star”…what could go wrong? Quite a bit, it turns out.
Nonetheless Monday we woke in a cloud, soft light up the creek and COLD, clear
in the afternoon, no harvest moon and Tuesday early away to Pueblo for big shoppings,
teeth cleanings and while L. had imaging done at the World’s Least Efficient Dentist there was more provisioning at the Safeway as well as Sonora’s with takeout enchiladas [birría, carnitas, chicken and – particularly good – the carne asada] making sure we made it to Cinemark Tinseltown Pueblo in plenty of time meaning, as moviegoing novices, we ended up suffering through forty minutes of ads, trivia and insufferably loud and violent trailers for movies we’d never ever ever want to see….FINALLY getting to the main event, One Battle After Another, which was worth it in every way,
not least of which the timeliness in these extremely troubling times…critics on the Right, right, have been an apoplectic minority* but for me it was not only an interesting take off one of my favorite Pynchon novels but a stand alone masterpiece of these times in its own right. Though
Sean Penn’s Lockjaw was a bit of an evil cartoon everyone involved was excellent but the standouts for me without a doubt were Chase Infiniti [now THERE’s a Pynchonian name!] who held up brilliantly, first time out, among a seasoned and stellar cast and, coolest of cool, Benicio del Toro. But I may just have to go back and see it again – so much detail. Once it was over [with Tom Petty over the closing credits, brilliant!] we drove down to the Tamale House on one last errand and then L. took over
for the spectacular late light run down the Front Range
to Red Rocks Road, crossed over
to 69, made the right
into the light,
up to MM 19, CR 620
and home, ten hours since abandoning the dogs and with a whole truckload to unload…
Next day was Library Day somewhat with a short walk up the creek between consultations
and dropping off materials followed by an interim of rest, lunch and studio
before Linda paid off Juan Trujillo for the much-needed [and long-delayed] grading
and day’s ending…
The week winding down I turned on the water to the tank and up the creek we went,
by 12:30 able to turn it off –
full to overflowing. It’s been a banner year for water here.
*A cluelessly humorless apoplectic minority, typically.

This is my second attempt to reply. Something is amiss.
Of course I always hope people will check it out on their computers [vanity about the photos] but yes, your ‘reply’ did land. Expensive new phones…ah. Don’t worry; they’re watching you!
