First up, first day Vallejo
and that afternoon the long-postponed birthday ice cream, a look at the Strait
and then Friday it was down 680 in rush hour sunshine and showers
to downtown San Jose where
Luz and Izel surprised us by being at Poppy and Claro [when we finally found it] for a quick bite
before going next door for the opening reception of Christine’s “Move the Plot”, a most major
solo exhibition which I wished I’d had more time for and taken more pictures of.
Same for “Motherboards” in the next gallery but all too soon
it was time to descend to the atrium for “remarks”
by the artist [below], preceded and followed by “remarks”
by the new director [below], all followed by a bit of milling about
before the museum party traipsed off for a celebratory dinner at Mezcal across the street
while we, in gathering darks, evening traffic and occasional showers made it back to Benicia in
about the same amount of time as going down and thence unto a rainy Saturday wherein
Luz and Izel came for a lunch from Nani’s, a trip to Gramma Linden’s library show
and the obligatory visit to Double Rainbow, rain or shine.
Then they were gone, back for a last night out with friends in San Jose and home to BC Sunday.
