Duly ensconced we eventually made our first Foray for Food [and other stuff; other stuff being a weird miscellany of hardware in Alturas preceded by some magnificent rough 2×12 and 2×10 boards from a Lake City mill for Linda’s baronial table…a day of flat light that went mostly undocumented save for these two lunchtime street views from the Surprise! Cafe’s sidewalk dining area in downtown Cedarville…then back down the road to the desert;
So a week of snakes wherein our dear friend Sarah makes her second annual trek to our “don’t bother to ask” artists’ residency for solace, lunar observations, sculptural investigations, plus many lovely dining and conversational opportunities…
I also had to go to the post office at one point, observing that things may have been wetter elsewhere.
Sarah gone we experienced another series of dramatically different evenings; overrun by dust on one …
Overflown by choppers most likely out looking for those prison escapees from upstate New York by Saturday day, followed by rainbows, leaving Sunday for laundry and an opportunity to observe the ’82 Chevy’s leaking fuel pump …
Monday it was again the usual 118 miles to market with a load of scrap tin, six hundred pounds not even close to covering the gas…
…Cedarville for watery coffee at lunch [the Surprise! closed Mondays] and then…
Although this post, heavy on pictures, has more to do with distractions, laziness and the weekend meltdown of gmail than a surfeit of Information, well, here it is…moro da same.
And moro to come, most likely…

I love these pictures so much
Hey…send some of that random rain over to California. Your desert looks green, we are shriveling up in dust. Although, here on the coast it’s been foggy for weeks….so if you can spare some sunshine, we’ll take that as well.
Great pictures, post some more of more of da same.
Just really love the images…the light, the dust, the clouds….all of it…even the dogs, people and vehicles that I know are so dear to your heart!!!
Wow, those heavens and dust storms. There is one cloud that looks like it should be floating above a RenĂ© Magritte painting – wonder what’s the cause of that formation.
Thank you,
