Taking the freeway…

“Taking the freeway when you’re on your way to get a 45 cent taquito* is like taking a jet to visit your cat, the texture’s wrong” – Eve Babitz, best writer on L.A., ever**.

I’m scanning slides; not quite there yet [need a proper cleaning brush to prep] but getting close; above Jungo playa, late eighties, springtime…whereas here springtime is, as previously noted,

drastically premature…not stopping scanning though; Red Tank, Oregon, on the road to No Crossing Crossing, Oregon; the foreground, below, IS the road to No Crossing Crossing.

Red chimney, Benicia, some years later on a Sunday

Old State Police Station east of Fields, Oregon ca. 1975…

On the home front we replaced the dryer for $16.95 and seem to have gotten the ’45 functional

[with the help of the aforementioned low-profile floor jack] with about a 1970s taquito’s worth

of Liquid Wrench so that’s all good; meanwhile, April flowers [sans showers] as February begins.

Yee-hah; it’s become so noticeable even the Nightly Network Newses have started mentioning

climate change…the wettest month is not even a wettish month and no precip in sight.

*This was awhile ago, back around the time Janis died, Eve was in her prime and taquitos were more affordable.

**From my privileged white L.A. perspective, anyway.

Yup, Eve Babitz is on my look-up-list. It’s even better if you drop “the texture’s wrong”. As usual things are looking good through your eyes on through the camera’s lens.
