22-2, Livin’ in a Purple Zone…

Once the sixth with our 26th anniversary [Gruet Brut Rose from New Mexico, pizza and paella from Gaby] was out of the way it was back to the Project with Benicia in the aughts.

The next day down by the same jetty I trailed a cruising mostly windowless ’56 Ford wagon

and, after a visit to Dave the Barber,

lunched in our briefly sunny luncheonette.

Sunshine remained intermittent…

while over several evenings “Shetland” alternated with the Project’s

southern Oregons

Colorado winters,

Frisco

…Lefty

and his sometime friend, Dazzle,

this all being [somewhat] long ago.

Present tense, damply dense mornings

gave way to afternoons of breezy sun so

back to it…moving up the years.

Early in 2008 Dazzle unexpectedly left us, not even eight years old and five months before Libre’s 50th anniversary in June, shortly after which we somewhat precipitously ended up with

a tiny puppy* from Aguilar, found on our way to hear George McGovern speak at the Ludlow Massacre Site Memorial.  We named her Aggie in abbreviated honor of her birthplace.

Meanwhile what to make of this mysterious graphic of Covid distribution from the NYT 13 1/2 years later…a lack of onsite reportage, targeting, karmic comeuppance, Fake News?

WTF…well at least we be livin’ in a Purple Zone.

*[“free border collie mix” the sign on the bulletin board in Ringo’s Market said and as soon as Christine read it some guy popped up and was calling the owner to tell him we were on our way to see the dogs…]

Yes! Man Ray for the shadows of dogs, table, chairs! Makes my head spin!
Also, did anyone else feel the stab of an ice cream headache after glancing at the cold drink on a spiky fence line? Ooowwwww!

So, how much does Dave the Barber charge and do you feel safe (COVID-wise) in there? I’m in need of a haircut but don’t need any extras (like an omicron treatment) that our local spot may be giving out for free.
I’m with Stephen and DC regarding the ManRay mit Dags; terrific shot!
Another fav is the train across the misty bay; Ireland? Oh, it’s Benicia.
Love the retrospective shots, how are you digitizing those slides? Scanning? Shooting with a camera? Nice job.
And finally, too bad that guy with the classic orange and white car got his white walls stolen. How low can you go? 🙂

This one helped me organize my dog memories and I enjoyed the “old” images. It is always amazing to me how vivid that green is when it first appears and also love that Irish shot with the sailboat.
