Beginning where we’ll end, birds on the Benician tidal rocks morning of November 27…but after lunch outside [warmer than in] easily against the holiday’s traffic to cross the bay, the Haight and out the other side;
[…something about the picture below – this car, this scene, this light – brings back to me my 1980’s in San Francisco…dunno why. The slightly out of focus aspect may have something to do with it…]
Down the coast for familial frolics, baby-worshipping [only the one that day, but by Monday a.m. in New York there was another], all the anticipated food groups and then some as well as all the obligatory documentary photography before the feast…
followed by the long dark drive…
Sizzling home…we all do our best, or hope to and, for forgiving, even more.
Back to Beni, the truck going away in anticipation of rain while still dry;
On the rocks, heron awaiting said rains…which did come, in bits, through the weekend, leaving leaves of late California autumn scattered up and down First Street…
so we prepare to leave our patriotic, colorful, Christmas-y little town…
…headed for New York to see a tiny new life…
Thanksgiving, indeed.
