The countdown

Day Four…

Three…brought the Tundra in, loaded boxed watercolors [for new flatfiles – boxes will hopefully

fit Wall Spring WC triptychs*], Safeway after lunch, bike [not shown, but as above]…

Two to go; bundled up the art load, filled two ‘packers, slid them into place and after lunch

rolled and wrapped Linda’s paper, went for last ice creams,

summer books from Bookshop Benicia and lasta pasta dinner out.

One.

A last F Street walk, shuffled the trucks while L.was at the market,

tucked the Mini into her welding studio when she got back,

took a last ride before

Scott came by to load the Taco and talk about six months’ looking after the place

then the miscellaneous endless details ending with a Singha and salmon at Mai Thai.

Saturday saw an intense morning loading out, hopefully

the last six dollar+ gas for six months, 680 and the insult

of inexplicable Cali traffic, hopefully nothing like that either from now on.

Linda and I traded places on 80 all the way over the hill,

both passing the same red Impala twice before meeting in Wadsworth for much cheaper gas

after which she was stopped the drugs police on the Bypass – suspiciousness of Colorado plates –

so after the post Office I was at Wall Spring a bit ahead of her, where fortunately Seth was still around to get the loads onto the porch.  After considerable schleppage there was beer

out back, enough unpacking for a shower, dinner out…

and done. Summer begun.

*They didn’t.
