well Tuesday was a quiet day, relatively;
L. and I made it to the Rest Rocks with Izel
but then Wednesday after collecting the mail we settled in with Dean
for a zoom Luz had scheduled with lawyers to explore artists’ legacies
after which Christine brought down dinner for the six of us.
Thursday, a day of creek and studios,
ended on the early side up at Bill and Muriel’s where a larger
even more lavish spread and gathering [eleven, then] brought much of Libre together.
Friday, the last day for our Canadian visitants, which began with Cosmos demolishing one of
my very spendy trekking poles while chasing after Jon Barr’s car, culminated with a wildly
abundant Meat Feast – steak and elk meatballs* – perpetrated by John and Luz, topped off with
Linda’s soon-to-be-famous Drunken Pumpkin Pie followed by rapt attention to Luz’s
“Linny Infinity” eightieth birthday composition for his mom before addressing the many dishes
and sated belated bedtimes. The next morning, Day of No Kings [seven million strong!]
across the land, was also the Day of Goodbyes and Departures for Izel, Christine and Luz
and depart they did, reaching Vancouver some ten hours later.
Wotta lotta week it was, and what a lot it meant to everyone.
*and not only the copious meats; grilled vegetables, gigantic artichokes, salads…
