After Austin even the passes were dry;

…though our off-highway lunch was less so;

Afternoon things began to clear; 50 dried out and stayed that way…

447 north; real estate opportunities, PLPT Rez…

…and across the Truckee twenty miles after the old Truck Inn.

Not until well north of Nixon did signs of the previous precip again become evident;

Lake Winnemucca, Empire, Gerlach for the post office and then the recently scraped Sand Pass Road [the grader had just done the twenty miles down to Espil’s and back] to Wall Spring by four for the night…

Friday morning,

Linda left via 447 as around 8:40 I collected my truck, shut the gate and was off down the dirt;

…out of the fog…

…past Espil’s,

Smoke Creek…

…and seventy or so miles later onto pavement from Doyle to Hallelujah Junction where a line for the Powerball Lottery ran out the door of the C-Store and all around the parking lot;

I got gas and moved on,

…into Sierra Valley to pee beside the road.

Intersected 80 at Truckee as always; over and down to the green,

Made it in the Benicia front door just as L. came in the back to lunch and unload; chill and damp…and green….
