Life after Memorial Day

Memorious as always, life goes on, warming unseasonably all the Memorial Monday;

P1210342

P1210344

A last laundry at Parker; a train heading west down the desert, late afternoon…

P1210349

P1210352

P1210353

P1210360

After the Weekend, south; Gerlach, Empire, Wadsworth, Fernley…Silver Springs and the bleak exurban landscape of 50 west – Bingo, Big Dong Used Cars, Discount Liquors, Guns, Ammo, Payday Loans and the brothels on the outskirts of Carson City, all for a washing machine at the Sears outlet, followed by south Reno’s unconscionable sprawl for provisions, supplies and Thai lunch…

P1210364

P1210365

P1210366

The return; again Wadsworth,

P1210369

Pyramid Lake,

P1210370

P1210371

Nixon…

P1210372

making it back to Gerlach for no mail and home, the warming trend continuous and record-breaking.

P1210424

Friday brought Mary and Judy with green tea KitKats in a Fit…

After they left Sunday the temperature reached 102, but plummeted thirty degrees when afternoon thunderheads brought spattering rain,

wind…

and dinner.

Next day climbed into the nineties again, but never as bad…

These two weeks we’ve also enjoyed nine young magpies, first observed lurching and fluffy among the upper pond’s willow thickets but, omnivorously migrating tree to tree, gaining confidence and tail feathers by the day, all the while becoming wiser in the ways of their world;

entertainment enough to the Easily Amused.

    You sure that photo of t-storm & wind isn’t one of your paintings??? Could be; and the front-lit sunset of mountains across the smoke creek is also gorgeous (wait, those could be the Granites!) but 100 degree heat is not my cup of tea.
    Stay cool, bro!
