Christmas Eve Day

came up wet, with memories – Radar in the eighties – after which one

ventured out but briefly to reposition the vehicle

[not THAT vehicle] which later allowed the last of the load to make it into the repo before

threading Christmas lights through porch rafters after so we could enjoy the show

while dressing up for calamari and rice followed by a very decadent chocolate thanks to BLM.

Our morbid fascination with Caltrans’ CCTV on the hill we went over so uneventfully only

the day before continued, after which it became Christmas and Onward Christian Soldiers, a Mighty Army led by an All American Nazi “from central casting”, all of which I find not only disgusting but deeply disturbing. Well, not my problem although certainly an International Public Relations Problem, a problem for Venezuelan fishermen as well as all sorts of random

Nigerians. Christmas Day we ventured briefly out into the muddy windiness, sheltered in place

for the rest of it until a little late sun showed followed by the Canadians, wrapping up their day

of zoom calls with far flung families with us before tucking in to what looked to be a

Luscious Duck [not shown] as we settled in for homemade pizza, back to normal life

with lights and that continuing fascination with the CCTV.

The day after, full sun, serious windchill,

muddy roads in the morning,

afternoon light in the Repo

and soon enough another day gone, doggone, but with a trip

down the county road

to see Seth and Sonny’s Christmas tree,

our decorations only distantly barely visible from the road and the highway,

oh…still a mess.

Well I wondered if you had made it through w/o traffic or snow and glad you did. Merry late Christmas and Happy New Year…coming up and then for another 365 days of dealing with the Mad King. Looking at you photos is an antidote and hopefully living in them is one for you both!

No snow, an extra half hour of traffic going up; extra [and exhausting] hour coming back – Cali SUCKS! But home to Benicia’s cold dampness for New Year’s. Happy New Year!
