Pueblo wipeout…

Well Thursday began with an early start for town, unfortunately intersecting a deer before we’d even reached the pavement but fortunately the overcast held through most of the morning, confining the temperature to the mid-nineties as we hit Gag’s, Liz’s Tamales, a somewhat moribund Safeway, the always excellent Ashley Hardware, 80/20 Wines and Colorado Tire who fixed the persistently leaking right rear and rotated the tires in less time than it takes to get checked in at Benicia’s [or any] Big O.  By then it was 11:30 and with the sun out the remaining stops [Goodwill, Natural Grocers] were warming up, the parking lot at the grocers being fairly

psychedelic by the time we lurched across it to Los Girasoles for a relleno and some street tacos before L. took over to take us down I-25 through a bizarre

semi-rearending-a-motorhome event which closed the right lane, then gas in Colorado City,

showers in the Huerfano, hail on 69, no sign of the damaged deer on the

dirt road home where it was all we could do [still only 2:30] to get the foods into the house and

put away before some of us [me] had to lie down with the heating pad for an extended period.

We made it through Friday though the two loads of laundry Saturday left me again pretty wiped

out after a straggly struggle partway around the yellow lowers of the knoll

and home.

Sunday we visited the lower reaches of the meadow where “Daphne”

and “Casa Mesa” [both 1988] reside

while a possibly pregnant lizard flew over the toolbox

as I continued to marvel over Dean’s “Medicine Wheel Weave” [2008] with Coltrane’s “Untitled Original 11386″* rattling ’round my brain, a brain responsible for simpler things –

[“Untitled Original, Libre”, N.D., “Lone Cypress”, SF, 1985]

Untitled original dog…

Glad the deer incident wasn’t more serious, hope you’re feeling mo’ bettah and your walks will gradually take you higher. Wow, whatta lizard!

Well replenishing the cracked plastic on the Taco [seems that’s all they’re made of up front except for the gratuitously heavy unleveraged hood] will probably cost a good deal more than Bryan H. will need to replace his incinerated HiLux but we’ll keep working on those walks…for one thing, the dogs insist on them!
