After ten days…

of constant but not unpleasant visitations interspersed

with walks around the block,

trips up Fossil Hill,

and lots of busy ness just as I was getting used to having people around most every day they all

went away, leaving us here alone at last to settle in, only a little worse for wear [Long Covid?

Old Age? High altitude?], the only continuing downside being someone helpful put something odiferous in the trash and we won’t be going to the dump for another ten days…plus then the

weather warmed steadily, nothing like a lot of places but unseasonably for here, not what we

felt prepared for for sure.

It certainly wasn’t as extreme as eastern Jordan where

son Bryan was tracking the vintage truck market but

for us even the trip over Fossil Hill

to the Libre Library was close to all we could manage…that

and small late afternoon perambulations around the homeplace.

We eventually had to make that first trip to Pueblo for Gagliano’s delicacies, groceries, perio [a sign of the times – running into old friends in the periodondist’s waiting room], hundred degree

temps, some not entirely satisfactory Hispanic Food,  80/twenty, and another fun sampling

of “summer driving season” down I-25 before hitting the Gardner post office and home

to collapse…all in a day.

For the great Chile relleno we do way better at our next door neighbors’ in Benica…since Jorge’s in Pueblo stopped serving lunch during Covid we’re mostly stuck with that SE Colorado cuisine, heavy on the cornstarch in the green chile. The nearest sure thing might be in Las Vegas NM at Charlie’s Spic ‘n’ Span at this point, alas.

I’ve been wondering about that ‘long covid’ myself

we’re getting our constant temps in the 90’s, but I would guess in your neighborhood
it cools down more at nights

Up here in the mountains it’s not so bad…my studio stays about eighty-two degrees most afternoons, but most afternoons there’s a breeze and yes, cooler nights. No rain, lightning far off, but livable for sure. Gerlach’s been over 100 for days…and don’t even think about Scottsdale.
