Simple lies

trump [that word again!] complex truths every time…where’s the Retribution in that?

Only a First Dog might know…or not. Anyway, another week on the desert…after Sunday

came Monday and a most interesting visit from Bruce Haley* as well as, finally, the Lost Boys

who continued picking away at things like siting the “Magdeburg Sphere” although still no word

from Willey on when [ever?] we can place those last two largest sculptures from Omaha. Ha.

Heat, as it’s said, rises, and although we had a small reprieve and a splat of rain once

every day tended warmer…

and warmer.

With Seth and Sonny’s help Linda had the repo more together than ever,

a cool respite through the languid afternoons

as greens turned to crackly golds and breakfasts

tended to be at the house pond watching waterlilies unfold and gigantic pollywogs a-surfacing

while lunches were down at the lunch pond, low waters and not a koi in sight.  Um.

Another Monday rolled around with a trip to Gerlach mailing mail and collecting things

at the P.O., failing to find Willey at the County [he was home haying, the guy wrist-deep in a mass of a massive dump truck’s dash wiring said] so I returned to Wall

and The Uncertainty [looking more and more certain Nothing Will Happen],

the heat…

and the moths.

*for an hour of No Bullshit Whatever I highly recommend Larry Rinder’s live interview with Bruce, his Surprise Valley neighbor, about life, photography and what that valley really needs.
