August

The last day of July was also the last day of internet cafe as as soon as

August rolled around it was time to see the little family down the road to western BC

and begin a regime of walking up past Dean’s to the creek which turned out to be so painful for our 15 year old terrierist that we began leaving her, finding in the process it was,

whether due to old age, altitude or Long Covid, pretty much a wipeout for us as well.

The weather, however, did cool somewhat, with enticements of mostly unrealized rain,

pizza and

the persistence of going up the creek, sometimes standing in the sun with Dean to talk about the recent Sundance or his invasive plants, sometimes with only the Inkies

but, weary from the extra mile and altitude, always back around the dome, earliest structure

built on the Libre lands and still standing after fifty five years.

Saturday that idyll abruptly ended as Linda rushed to the Farmer’s Market and home in time for a visitation from the Huerfano Historical Society and then Sunday, after what became our last

trip up the creek for awhile, a conversation with Clarissa, Daniel and Dean was abruptly ruined

when the black dogs attacked Kiku [not shown] as a result of which we averted further conflict

by detouring to the knoll Monday and then Tuesday the bad behavior* continued when they

took off after Leon’s Audi as he innocently passed by…argh.

Nevertheless…

and otherwise life continues.
