of what still passed for winter, wandering the fields
in contemplation of things done back when we did things
as geese squawked
[interiors]
and rains squalled leaving at least
a little wet lakeside clarity to end on.
Wednesday, having re-strained the butt muscles out among the sagebrushes, made for a
limping departing but fortunately the Tundra’s reupholstered seats are sufficiently forgiving to
allow an hour or so between stretchings…initially on the vestigial shore of Winnemucca Lake,
an hour later in Wadsworth,
again after the Truckee Scales before attempting the pass
and lastly west of Sacramento thinking [the truck still on PST] I’d make it home for lunch.
Which we did, although lunch ended up being two o’clock and was followed by a two hour collapse so the rest wasn’t unloaded until after that rest.
