Well Thursday began with an early start for town, unfortunately intersecting a deer before we’d even reached the pavement but fortunately the overcast held through most of the morning, confining the temperature to the mid-nineties as we hit Gag’s<\/a>, Liz’s Tamales<\/a>, a somewhat moribund Safeway, the always excellent Ashley Hardware<\/a>, 80\/20 Wines<\/a> and Colorado Tire<\/a> who fixed the persistently leaking right rear and rotated the tires in less time than it takes to get checked in at Benicia’s [or any] Big O.\u00a0 By then it was 11:30 and with the sun out the remaining stops [Goodwill, Natural Grocers] were warming up, the parking lot at the grocers being fairly<\/p>\n

psychedelic by the time we lurched across it to Los Girasoles<\/a> for a relleno and some street tacos before L. took over to take us down I-25 through a bizarre<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

semi-rearending-a-motorhome event which closed the right lane, then gas in Colorado City,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

showers in the Huerfano, hail on 69, no sign of the damaged deer on the<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

dirt road home where it was all we could do [still only 2:30] to get the foods into the house and<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

put away before some of us [me] had to lie down with the heating pad for an extended period.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We made it through Friday though the two loads of laundry Saturday left me again pretty wiped<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

out after a straggly struggle partway around the yellow lowers of the knoll<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

and home.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Sunday we visited the lower reaches of the meadow where “Daphne”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

and “Casa Mesa” [both 1988] reside<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

while a possibly pregnant lizard flew over the toolbox<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

as I continued to marvel over Dean’s “Medicine Wheel Weave” [2008] with Coltrane’s “Untitled Original 11386″*<\/a> rattling ’round my brain, a brain responsible for simpler things –<\/p>\n
